The varsity girls of St. Clair High earned their first victory of the 2018 season by putting eight balls in the opposing team's net while holding the Shamrocks of Eastpointe High School to zero.

It was impressive to see both of the team's new freshman selections (Samantha Kent and Lily Osiwala) score their first goals of their varsity careers, while they had no shortage of support from the rest of their teammates. The leading scorer for the Lady Saints was Elia Tracy, earning her first hat trick of the season.

Also putting balls in the back of the net for the Saints was Lauren Swantek, Natalie Booms and Allison Champion, who scored on a PK.

As impressive as our offensive attack may have been, its still not possible without a solid performance by our goalkeeper. In this shutout, that performance was provided by our primary keeper, Kara Donaldson, who made an insane save by lying out and barely getting a hand on a shot taken by one of the Shamrock's when their team was awarded a PK.

The Shamrock's keeper faced an onslaught of shots delivered by the Saints, with shots being taken by nine different players durning the game. The contest had to be cut short due to the Saints gaining a 8-0 lead with roughly 17 minutes to play in the second half.

Hopefully, that win will be what our team needed to lift their sprits as they head into spring break. The next game for the Lady Saints Varsity team is set for Wednesday, April 11, against Marine City, with a 5:00
kickoff.
