It was a soggy day on the grass field of the Algonac Muskrats when the Lady Saints played there on Monday afternoon. It was soggy because it started to rain before kickoff and did not stop throughout the entire game.

Fortunately, the hard work of the Saints did not stop throughout the entire game either. Despite having one of our starters very limited in minutes due to illness and one other player completely out due to a pre-existing injury, two other players, freshmen Samantha Kent and Alexis Joshua, were both carried off the field during the first half due to newly-sustained injuries.

That gave us a very short bench to work with. However, the remaining players who were able to play worked together to pull off a 4-2 win, bringing our record to 9-4-4 on the season.

The Saints didn't waste any time making an impact on the game, while senior Tayler Malone put one in the Muskrats' net only 17 seconds into the game. Malone went on to score another before the game ended.

Sophomore Allison Champion also added two scores of her own during the match, with her first coming off a beautiful corner kick sent into the box by Malone in the 32nd minute of the game.

Hopefully our team will be a bit healthier for our next game, set for Wednesday at 5:30 at Marysville High School.
